GUMR
Southsea-based producer and DJ GUMR has been a fixture in the electronic music underground for decades, known for his distinctive fusion of Deep Tech, Acid House, and Techno. His journey began in the ‘80s at Southsea Skatepark, where BMX culture and the futuristic sounds of Herbie Hancock first ignited his passion for music. As the ‘90s rave movement took hold, he was drawn into the hypnotic energy of dancefloors, shaped by influences like Mr C, Terry Francis, and Kraftwerk. These early experiences led him to the decks, where he honed a signature sound—deep, rolling, and effortlessly groovy.
GUMR’s career has been defined by persistence and evolution. From winning the BBC Radio 1 DJ competition to delivering electrifying sets at The End and Superfreq, he has shared lineups with some of the most respected names in the industry. His productions, including the acclaimed Analogue Shimmer on Household Digital, embody a refined yet driving aesthetic, built for DJs and dancefloors alike. Even in moments of creative struggle, he remains dedicated to pushing his sound forward, always chasing that perfect blend of rhythm and atmosphere.
Now, as he prepares to launch Freaky Nation, a Deep Tech & Acid House label dedicated to quality, groove-driven releases, GUMR’s vision is clearer than ever. He sees music as more than just beats—it’s an emotional and communal experience, a way to inspire and connect. Whether through his DJ sets, productions, or mentoring the next generation, his mission remains the same: to create timeless, immersive music that moves both body and soul.
